Docked
CODICO sells high-quality electronic components, which are also individually developed for customers if required. Since its foundation in 1977, the company based in Perchtoldsdorf has recorded a constant growth trend. As a result, it was enlarged, moved and rebuilt. However, logistics was no longer able to keep pace with the positive development of the core business. Management decided to put it on a new footing and commissioned Xvise to work out possible scenarios for expanding the site.
Attached new building
After extensive scenario development, we took over the concept planning for the logistics building and the loading yard. At the heart of the concept was a new logistics building that housed incoming and outgoing goods. One side wall of the existing building was opened up for an extension to be added. In addition, we have planned a high-performance, fully automated small parts warehouse designed to replace the previous small parts warehouse. An existing small parts warehouse was dismantled. The freed capacity was used for the expansion of the pallet warehouse.
Throughout the planning work we kept in touch with the architect, who was able to build on our logistics concept and refine the details together with us. In addition to that, we carried out the tender for the small parts warehouse, the forklift fleet, the packaging stations and the pallet warehouse. Our continuous project support was completed by us providing implementation- and go-live support.
The result is particularly evident in the handling of small parts
The incoming goods segment now has a so-called deconsolidation area. There, the goods received in pallets or boxes are accepted, relocated and automatically transported to the small parts warehouse. During picking, the respective article is automatically transported either directly to the packaging or to the picking station, transferred to destination containers and moved to the packaging station. There, employees assemble the materials from the pallet and small parts warehouses and ready them for shipping. A new warehouse management system ensures that the different items belonging to the respective order come together without any loss of time. Since CODICO components are used in medical technology as well as in demanding industrial applications, the requirements for transparent goods flow and data are correspondingly high.
Award for CODICO
The close cooperation with CODICO and the architect enabled a total solution that offers long-term flexibility for future developments. A look at last year’s award underlines this claim: At the renowned βNight of Electronics 2025,β CODICO was named one of the best specialist distributors β clear proof of the company’s innovative strength and reliability.
Projects like this show that automation is complex, which is why independent consultants are worth their weight in gold. They evaluate technologies objectively, contribute experience from numerous projects, develop a holistic strategy and prevent bad investments.
